It has been reported time and again that the cricketers taking part in the 2019 World Cup have been asked to take it easy during the preceding IPL 2019 tournament. While the England and Australian cricket boards are supposed to pull out their players mid-tournament, BCCI and Indian captain Virat Kohli have also talked about the importance for Indian players to be fresh and ready for the 50-over mega-event taking place in England this year.
India pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar spoke about taking rest and said, “It will come into play after the first half of IPL, six-seven matches then we can know how we can approach the second half of IPL and what we need to do to remain fit for the World Cup. Yes, it (World Cup) is there on our minds but we’ll look after (our fitness) in the second half of IPL.”
“If I feel that I am tired, then we can take rest. I am sure they (IPL teams) will cooperate with each and every player because WC is a very important thing for us and BCCI may also talk to them.”
