Former captain and Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara has praised India skipper Virat Kohli, calling him way above the rest of the present-day cricketers.
For Kohli, the past year has been a memorable one as the 30-year-old became the first cricketer to bag ICC’s cricketer of the year, ODI cricketer and Test cricketer of the year awards last month, surging ahead of the likes of Kane Williamson, Steve Smith and Joe Root.
Sangakkara said, “Everything about Virat’s game stands out. I think he is head and shoulders above anyone else in world cricket today. And I think going forward, he will be one of the greatest ever cricketers, if not the greatest ever.”
