Steve Smith to play IPL, 2019 World Cup and Ashes as elbow surgery proves a success

While Steve Smith and David Warner were banned last year from playing international cricket by Cricket Australia following their involvement in the infamous ball-tampering scandal, their stints in the Bangladesh Premier League were cut short by very recent elbow injuries.

Steve Smith’s manager Warren Craig told Cricket Australia on Thursday, “The surgery went very well. Until the brace comes off we don’t know for sure but all current opinion is that he’ll then have about three-and-a-half weeks before being ready to play.”

“The intent is that he will play in the Indian Premier League and then the World Cup and then the Ashes.”
