Xavi expected to help Barcelona ‘manage the end of Lionel Messi’

The legendary Spanish midfielder and former Barcelona player Xavi Hernandez had quit the club in 2015, but is now being expected to return as the vice-president of the sporting relations at the Nou Camp for the task that Xavi would never have even dreamt of doing – ‘the management of the end of Lionel Messi’.

Leading candidate for the presidency of Barcelona, Victor Font, has outlined his vision for the club and has revealed that he is in talks with Xavi over a leadership role.

Speaking about the challenges Victor Font needs help from Xavi with, he said on Friday, “I hope he can lead our footballing project. We have a lot of challenges for the next five or 10 years. A key one, and one of the first, is the management of the end of Lionel Messi (as he gets towards retiring).”

Presidential elections at Barca will be held in 2021 and Victor Font has already established himself as a front-runner.
