The fifth season of the Indian Super League (ISL 2018-19) season kicked off just a week ago, and Mumbai City FC, which had entered the season of Hero Indian Super League football as one of the strong-heads, faced an upsetting 2-0 defeat against Jamshedpur FC in their opening clash. While the development was still fresh in Indian football news, MCFC coach Jorge Costa spoke about the team’s next clash against Kerala Blasters FC which will take place on Friday (October 5), and expressed the desperation to win, making waves in Indian football latest news.
As evident in Indian football news, Mumbai City were defeated 2-nil by Jamshedpur FC in their opening match of the Hero Super League 2018, and the bigger concern was the fact that the defeat came at Mumbai City’s home-ground. Next up, MCFC are slated to play against Kerala Blasters FC, who in turn, had won their opening clash by a good margin, and will be looking to get another win when they face Jorge Costa’s men.
Indian football latest news: Jorge Costa takes a dig at the crammed schedule of ISL 2018-19 season
Mumbai City FC coach Jorge Costa admitted that the ISL team was now under pressure to get a win, as, while a win was expected against Jamshedpur FC, Kerala Blasters FC are on the other hand, in a good form, stronger than MCFC’s first opponent.
Speaking about the next clash and also took a dig at ISL 2018-19’s apparently crammed schedule. As reported in Indian football latest news by Goal, Jorge Costa said, “At this moment, we are in different situations. They have three points, we have zero. This is not an excuse but this is the reality that we played two days ago. We are flying today. It is not the same. Even between these two games, I could do nothing with the players. Today I was flying in the morning.”
It was at this point that Costa admitted the pressure of winning against Kerala Blasters. Making waves in latest Indian football news, he said, “It is true that tomorrow, we have this pressure to get some points. Because Kerala play at home and after their last game, they will have pressure (to win again).”
Jorge Costa also suggested that he was disappointed after losing to Jamshedpur FC in their first match of Hero Super League 2019. He said, “I am not happy with the result. Our first half was nothing special. Second half we created a lot of chances to score. In the last five minutes, it was horrible. In the end, we lost the game and lost three points. I am here to try to win the three points tomorrow.”
When asked about the progress that Mumbai City defender Vignesh Dakshinamurthy had made and other team news, Jorge Costa said, “I don’t like to speak about individuals. Maybe after the game, but not before it. Eleven players will start tomorrow. I will try to play the best eleven. Sehnaj is okay (to play). Anwar (Ali) and Davinder (Singh) are injured.”
