As reported in Indian football latest news, Indian Super League (ISL) outfit Kerala Blasters FC have made a new signing, and a mammoth one, if we look at the quality of the signing. After acquiring the FIFA U17 World Cup star and goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem, KBFC have roped in another World Cup star, i.e. Jeakson Singh, who was the only goal-scorer for India at FIFA’s U17 main event last year. The signing came just a couple days after the Hero Indian Super League 2018 – 19 started, and the development spread like wildfire in Indian football news.
The 17-year-old Jeakson Singh had scored India’s only goal with an excellent-timed header in the FIFA U17 clash against Columbia last year. Although India still went on to lose that clash 2-1, Jeakson Singh became the favorite of many football fans.
It was evident in Indian football news when Jeakson Singh was traded from Minerva Punjab FC to play with the Indian Arrows on loan, as well. Indian Arrows is a team which is owned by the All India Football Federation (AIFF), and is a development project meant to polish and groom the Indian footballing wonderkids by giving them regular guidance and play-time in the I-League, i.e. the top-tier of India football, after ISL.
Indian football latest news: Kerala Blasters announced the signing after winning the ISL 2018-19 opener
The announcement about Kerala Blasters’ new signing, which made waves in Indian football latest news, was made public by the ISL team on October 3. KBFC wrote on their official Twitter page, “The only goal scorer for our Nation in the @FIFAU17WC , Jeakson Singh Thounaojam is now a Blaster! Let’s give him a warm welcome!”

Jeakson Singh had also earned a few caps for the U20 Indian football team, and was a notable part of the 25-man squad which recently took part in the 2018 COTIF Cup, in which India defeated heavyweights Argentina 2-1 in what turned out to be a historic fixture in India football. The 17-year-old got his chance in the match against Murcia U20s, and while the Indian football team didn’t win the Mini Mundial Sub U-20 Men’s Football Tournament, it did prove to be a great experience for the young Indian footballers like Jeakson himself.
As reported in latest Indian football news, Jeakson’s former I-League club Minerva Punjab also wished him the best for his new chapter at Kerala Blasters FC. He was an important player for the I-League defending champions Minerva Punjab, leading the team to consecutive U15 & U16 Youth League Titles.
What also made waves in Indian football latest news was Kerala Blasters’s 2-0 win over ATK in opening clash of ISL 2018-19 season. KBFC are now slated to go up against Mumbai City FC in their next encounter which will take place on October 5. As reported in latest Indian football news, Jeakson will be loaned right back to the Indian Arrows to let his grooming continue under Floyd Pinto’s guidance.
However, it will still be interesting to watch what plans Kerala Blasters have for the young Indian footballer.
