While Mumbai City FC had been racking up new players for the ongoing season of the top-tier Indian Football League, i.e. Hero Indian Super League 2018 – 19, something that was making waves in Indian football news as well, their campaign started off on Tuesday (October 2) with a sour note.
As reported in Indian football news, Mumbai City FC vs Jamshedpur FC was marked with both the sides dominating the other in either half of this Hero Super League 2018 clash. While Jamshedpur FC opened scoring in the first half, and started off with a dominating performance, Mumbai City’s chances got multiplied in the 2nd half of the Hero Indian Super League football clash.
However, as MCFC failed to capitalise on their furtherances, head coach Jorge Costa spoke about the team’s performance in the post-match conference, expressing his disappointment about what constituted the final 5-7 minutes of the clash. As evident in latest Indian football news, it was in this final phase of the Hero Indian Super League 2018 clash, that Jamshedpur FC scored another goal and sealed their victory.
Indian football latest news: MCFC lost their organised shape when it was needed the most, says head coach Jorge Costa
As reported by Sportskeeda in Indian football latest news, Mumbai City FC head coach Jorge Costa said, “The match was a story of two halves, they did well in the first and we came back in the second. We had a lot of chances to score but unfortunately, two of our goals were ruled out for offside.”
“We kept going for the equalizing goal with intent but the final minutes were poor. I did not like the last 5-7 minutes. We lost our organized shape and they capitalised and scored the second goal.”
Despite of being disappointed with the team’s performance in the final minutes, Jorge Costa explained how he was happy with the team’s effort since the start of the second half. After going down by a goal, Mumbai City FC started the 2nd half with determination to get back, but failed to deliver as Jamshedpur FC’s debutant Mario Arques scored a header to put the home-team’s hopes to rest.
Another development that landed in Indian football latest news was the fact that MCFC had scored two goals in the total span of the match, both of which were ruled out for offside by the linesmen. The first instance was when MCFC midfielder Mohammed Rafique headed in a cross, and the second tragedy came when striker Modou Sougou slotted the ball in Jamsedpur FC’s goal.
Although the MCFC players and head coach Jorge Costa expressed displeasure on the offside decisions, replay footage showed that the officiating was indeed on point.
While Mumbai City FC are not happy with the result of their opening Hero Indian Super League football clash, they now have another chance at redemption, when they travel to Kochi to take on the Kerala Blasters FC, another strong team who has also won their opening clash of Hero Indian Super League 2018 against ATK.
