Making headlines in Indian football latest news, I-League outfit Gokulam Kerala FC has announced the reappointment of Bino George as their head coach ahead of Hero ILeague 2018-19 season.
Indian football latest news: Bino George was replaced by Fernando Valera as head coach of Gokulam FC in March, 2018
The Kozhikode-based ILeague outfit had appointed Spanish coach Fernando Valera in March earlier this year, who had a lot of hopes stored in him in regard to the Hero Ileague 2018-19 season. It had made waves in latest Indian football news or football news India when Valera had taken over as Gokulam head coach, replacing Bino George, who was promoted to the role of a Technical Director.
However, with just a few months down the line, Valera stirred up the football club of the top-flight of India football, i.e. Gokulam Kerala FC, and even made waves in Indian football latest news, when he asked the club to let him go, citing personal reasons.
As reported in Indian football news by Goal, Gokulam President VC Praveen had confirmed through a statement, “Fernando Valera requested to be released (from his contract) due to personal reasons. A decision on his replacement will be taken in the coming days.”
And now, Bino George, the former head coach of Gokulam Kerala FC, has been reinstated for the role, and is determined to take the club places in the Hero Ileague 2018-19 season, with an aim to win each and every Ileague fixture so that the club reigns supreme in the Ileague point table.
As reported in latest Indian football news by Goal, Bino George spoke about the challenges that he will face after returning as head coach of the team, and the prospects that Gokulam FC has with the Hero Ileague 2018-19 season just a few days away from kick-off. George said,
“Even though I was with the team as the Technical Director, it will take time to change whatever the previous coach has instilled into the team. But still we have one more month to go for I-League. I can cope up. Gokulam is my family, they are in my blood. I’ll bring the best results for them. We want to play the AFC Cup (by winning the I-League) now. That’s our dream now. We need the support of Kerala.”
Gokulam Kerala have been testing out their calibre in the Hero Ileague 2018 preseason, but were knocked out of the AWES Cup in Goa, earlier in September. They played pre-season friendlies against ISL teams such as ATK and Bengaluru FC. While they emerged victorious after defeating the reserve side of ATK 4-1, they saw a similar scoreline against Bengaluru FC, but this time in a loss.
The Hero ILeague 2018-19 season is slated to kick-off in the last week of October.
