I-League giants East Bengal FC have been making waves in Indian football news of late due to the power-moves that they are making in attempts to take over the upcoming I-League 2018-19 season. What has stirred the Indian football latest news is the fact that EBFC’s latest signing of the former Mexican national football team striker, Enrique Esqueda, has arrived at Kolkata in the later hours of Tuesday (25 September).
East Bengal FC had acquired the signature of the Mexican striker for the I-League 2018-19 season recently, for which they had to take a big chunk of cash out of their pockets, in order to strengthen their squad for the top-flight football league of India football (I-League), which kick-starts in October this year.
Making waves in Indian football latest news, EBFC announced the arrival of Enrique Esqueda on Wednesday (26 September) on their Twitter page, and wrote, “Join Us in Welcoming

East Bengal FC, who are often labelled as the I-League giants, have been working in tandem to win their much-awaited I-League title after a long dry spell, and getting the Quess Corporation on board was another move that was carried out with this intention earlier this year, something that had landed the club in the headlines of Indian football news or football news India.
Indian football latest news: East Bengal FC set to witness a mini-Hispanic revolution in the I-League 2018-19 season
East Bengal FC has roped in quite a few players who come from the Hispanic footballing culture, some of the key names of which include Costa Rican footballer and 2018 World Cup regular Johnny Acosta and Spanish centre-back Borja Gomez Perez.
And the latest signing of Enrique Esqueda, which is all over the Indian football news currently, has set in motion a sort of a Hispanic revolution for the East Bengal side, especially with the former Real Madrid Castilla coach, Alejandro Menéndez, set to take over as the coach of the team ahead of the I-League 2018-19 season, as reported in Indian football latest news by Goal.
The 30-year-old Mexican striker Enrique Esqueda, who had started his professional football career with the reputed Mexican outfit, Club America, has famously won an Under-17 World Cup for the team in 2005. He was also represented the Mexican national football team, nicknamed as ‘El Tri’, at the senior-most level from 2007 to 2015.
The striker had passed a trial with the Polish football side, Arka Gdynia, with whom he had also signed a short-term contract. However, the 30-year-old chose to not renew it further, and now is set to make only his second stint outside his home country, when he wears the Red and Gold for the I-League 2018-19 season, starting in October.
