I-League outfit Mohun Bagan has made waves in Indian football latest news for a couple of reasons. While winning their 30th Calcutta Football League (CFL) title after eight long years is one of the reason, another one that has landed in the headlines of the latest Indian football news is the fact that they could soon rope in their former player and ‘Haiti’s Magician’ Sony Norde for the I-League 2018-19 season.

Haitian winger Sony Norde, who was a regular in the top-flight of India football, i.e. I-League, for Mohun Bagan from the 2014 to 2018 season, had made waves in football news India when he had terminated his contract at the onset of 2018 due to a long-term injury which the 29-year-old had suffered in his right knee.

Indian Football Latest News: Norde to make a comeback at Mohun Bagan for the supporters?

However, while the fans of India football and especially Mohun Bagan had bid Norde goodbye, the rumours of him making a comeback for the I-League giants are making waves in Indian football latest news. And the main reason for the word to spread around like wildfire is Sony Norde himself, who posted on his Facebook on 16 September, “If I will make a comeback for Bagan that will be only for the supporters.”

As reported in latest Indian football news by Sportskeeda, when Mohun Bagan coach Sankarlal Chakraborty was asked about Sony Norde’s comeback ahead of the I-League team’s clash against Mohammedan Sporting Club, he had said on Monday (September 17), “We are only thinking about tomorrow’s match, nothing else.”

On the other hand, it is being reported in latest Indian football news that Mohun Bagan has offered Sony Norde a proposal that is definitely good enough. The I-League outfit have played with two foreigners in this season’s Calcutta Football League (CFL) – Aser Dipanda Dicka and Henry Kisekka. Another foreigner, Japanese Star Yuta Kinowaki, has also arrived at the club, and now the ‘Maroon and Greens’ are in search of two more overseas footballers for the upcoming I-League 2018-19 season.

In the meantime, Sony Norde has also received an offer from the Bangladeshi club named ‘Basundhara’. And while Norde has not yet taken a final call on his future, the speculation among the fans of India football and in latest Indian football news has only gotten stronger.

One thing is for certain which is made even more clear if we look at the Haitian’s Facebook post, i.e. Sony Norde has an emotional bonding with Mohun Bagan. The winger had helped Mohun Bagan in clinching the I-League trophy after 13 long years. And while he could not finish his last season due to the injury, it is reported in football news India that Norde has already begun his practice after the surgery. It should only move in the positive direction from here on, for both, Sony Norde and Mohun Bagan.
