Indian Super League (ISL) giants Bengaluru FC, who finished at the top of the table rankings of ISL football last year and rocked up the Indian football news, are making sure that they keep posing a considerable threat to the opponent teams in the ISL 2018-19 season too. Making waves in ISL transfer news and Indian football latest news, Bengaluru FC announced the signing of 34-year-old Spanish defender Albert Serran on Friday (August 31).

The ISL 2018-19 season is set to kickstart in only a month’s time, and Bengaluru FC are ensuring that they leave no stone unturned in order to clinch the ISL title this season, after having lost it to Chennaiyin FC last year. And the Spanish centre-back Albert Serran is sure to impart a great deal of technical expertise to the Indian football players present in BFC.

Indian football latest news: Albert Serran has already featured for BFC in two pre-season friendlies

As reported by The Fan Garage in Indian football latest news, Albert Serran joins Bengaluru FC as their seventh foreign signing for the ISL 2018-19 season. It is also noteworthy that the centre-back has already played for Carles Cuadrat in BFC in two pre-season friendlies that were held recently, against Villarreal CF B team and FC Barcelona B team.

As reported in Indian football news, Albert Serran spoke about joining the ISL team after completing his paperwork with Bengaluru FC, and said, “It’s a great experience in my career to sign for Bengaluru FC. The pre-season in Spain was great and I had the chance to meet the staff and players. I was given a warm welcome and felt very good from the beginning. I’m expecting to arrive in Bengaluru soon, to know more about the fans and the city.”

Serran was born in Barcelona, and has been a product of RCD Espanyol’s youth circles, and has also featured in three La Liga games during his time with the team. In 2008, the defender had signed a three-year deal with the Premier League regulars Swansea City, who were playing in the Football League Championship at that time.

After leaving Swansea in 2011, Serran went on to play for a number of teams such as AEK Larnaca, Alcorcon, Anorthosis Famagusta, Doxa Katokopia, and Albanian Superliga giants FK Kukesi. The 34-year-old will join Bengaluru FC from the Moroccan side Chabab Rif Al Hoceima, the team with he had signed his last contract.

Bengaluru FC faced a 5-2 defeat in the 2018 AFC Cup against Altyn Asyr FK, and are now gearing up for the ISL 2018-19 season. The opening clash of the Indian Super League 2018-19 season will be held between BFC and Chennaiyin FC, at the Kanteerava Stadium on September 30. We expect the ISL team to be landing at the center of Indian football latest news owing to their match-winning performances in the upcoming season.
