- The upcoming clash between I-League clubs East Bengal FC and Mohun Bagan, which is famously known as the Kolkata Derby, is set to make waves in Indian football news on 2nd September, 2018
- What is certain to set the Indian football latest news on fire, is the fact that the match-ball for the Kolkata Derby will be delivered by a paraglider, directly at the Salt Lake Stadium
The much-awaited Kolkata Derby, which is held between the two giant football clubs based out of Kolkata – East Bengal FC and Mohun Bagan – is set to make waves in Indian football latest news when it takes place on September 2 (Sunday), at the Salt Lake Stadium. While the competition is always on fire in the Kolkata Derby, the clash will land in the headlines of Indian football news for a different, and a rather quirky reason.
It has been reported in Indian football news by Xtra Time, that the match-ball for the Kolkata Derby on September 2 will be delivered at the Salt Lake Stadium by a professional paraglider. The move is being materialised to spice up the already eagerly-awaited clash between Mohun Bagan and East Bengal, which can also be called the ‘El Clasico’ of Kolkata.
Both, East Bengal and Mohun Bagan, have been enjoying an excellent form and there is not even a shadow of doubt about the fact that the venue, i.e. Salt Lake Stadium, will be filled to the rafters with the fans of India football rooting for everything that constitutes the Kolkata Derby, including the sight of a paraglider descending from the skies, down on the ground to deliver the match-ball.
Indian football latest news: A similar stunt was performed in the Portuguese Cup final last year
It seems like the Indian Football Association certainly wants to add a little bit spice to the match by orchestrating this unique and never-seen-before experience for the fans.
And although the ‘stunt’ would stir up the Indian football latest news on the match-day, it is not the first time that football is experiencing something of this kind, as a similar stunt involving a man flying on a drone to deliver the match-ball was performed in the Portuguese Cup final last year.
A sight to behold, that might have been, but what makes the paragliding schtick a unique experience in India football is the fact that it is the first time this would happen in India, let alone the I-League.
