  • Indian football latest news revealed that NorthEast United FC signed Ghanaian winger cum midfielder Augustine Okrah ahead of the ISL 2018-19 season
  • Making waves in ISL transfer news and Indian football news, it came to the fore that Okrah became NEUFC’s third foreign signing for ISL 2018-19

NorthEast United FC, who finished at the bottom of the points table of ISL football last year, are making sure that they do not repeat the dismal performance another year, and are making waves in ISL transfer news and Indian football latest news by signing a bunch of new foreign players. While the signing of Nigerian Bartholomew Ogbeche and Uruguayan Juan Cruz Mascia was still fresh in Indian football news, NEUFC stirred up the ISL transfer news after signing their third foreign player, i.e. Ghanaian winger cum attacking midfielder Augustine Okrah, ahead of ISL 2018-19 season.

While the 24-year-old Ghana national will play his first-ever professional season in India and ISL football, it would be interesting to see how he performs as he has previously played under the current head coach of the Highlanders, i.e. Eelco Schattorie. Augustine Okrah was playing for Red Bull Ghana back in 2011-12, when he had the opportunity to play under Schattorie.

Indian football latest news: Augustine Okrah has played in the Egyptian, Ghana, and Sudan Premier Leagues

As reported by Khel Now in Indian football latest news, the winger cum attacking midfielder is coming over to ISL football from his stint with the Egyptian Premier League outfit, Smouha Sporting Club, where he made nine appearances for the club and even registered a goal.

Augustine Okrah had started off his professional football career in the Ghana Premier League, where he plied his trade in various clubs. Later on, the midfielder had moved out to the top-tier of Swedish football, for Bollklubben Hacken on a loan spell.

After Ghana and Sweden, the 24-year-old had moved to the Sudanese club Al Merreikh, where he also won his first two titles, i.e. the Sudan Premier League and the Sudan Cup. Okrah has now joined the ISL team in Guwahati and will soon be on the field for practice. Be it the ISL 2018-19 season of the preseason camp in Turkey, the presence of the Ghanaian national would act as a boon for the Indian football players present in the ISL team, imparting them technically superior attributes and skills.

On the other hand, the Northeast-based ISL team seem to be in a good position to dominate their opponent teams in ISL football, as all three of their foreign signings so far have been under the age of 25 years. Although NEUFC have not signed any big names for the ISL 2018-19 season, we expect them to make waves in Indian football news and ISL news, starting soon.
