Liverpool Transfer News: Fekir makes it clear that his focus is solely on Lyon after making his first appearance for the season
The reports indicated that Liverpool had pulled out of the deal at the last moment owing to concerns over fitness but in the end, nothing was confirmed by either club. Fekir didn’t feature in Lyon’s opening game of Ligue 1 season but came on as a substitute in their 2-0 victory over Strasbourg on Friday night.
Speaking after the match in press-zone, Fekir made it clear that he was unsure why his move to Liverpool failed at the 11th hour but now all that is behind him and he is fully dedicated to Lyon in the ongoing season.
Fekir told the gathered press,”My future? I am Lyonnais and I will stay Lyonnais. For the extension, we’ll see! Why not? I am in Lyon, I am good. It is true that things happened this summer, but there is a new season starting in Lyon and I am very happy to be here.”
Liverpool Transfer News: Nabil was supposed to be a replacement for Coutinho if Jurgen Klopp had his way
As per Liverpool transfer news, Jurgen Klopp had sanctioned a bid of £60m for Nabil this summer seeing him as a permanent replacement for Phillip Coutinho. Both clubs had even agreed on that fees before Liverpool decided to renegotiate at the final stage, prompting Lyon to completely pull out of the deal. The whole scene would have definitely affected Fekir, emotionally and mentally but the 25-year-old is ready to put all that behind and focus on the new season with Lyon.
“It is necessary to advance, it is of the old history. My aborted departure at Liverpool, I do not even think about it anymore. These are things that happen. My life has changed a bit since July 15th. I feel more recognition from people but for my part, I do not have not changed! It did not change my life!,” Fekir added further.
However, it seems that the failed effort to recruit Fekir hasn’t at all hampered Liverpool’s preparation for the 2018-2019 season. The Reds have started the campaign with 2 wins out of 2, and have scored 6 goals in the process without any goals in reply.
Liverpool will now take on Brighton and Hove Albion tonight at the Anfield Stadium at 10:00 PM/IST.
