Paris Saint-Germain will start their Ligue 1 title defense tonight when they travel to face off against Guingamp. New manager Thomas Tuchel is all set to start life in Paris following his successful spell at Borussia Dortmund and one of the first things on his agenda would be to sort out the relationship between his star duo of Edison Cavani and Neymar.
For those of you who don’t remember Cavani and Neymar were in involved in a number of spats that were spread throughout the season and very easily found it’s way to the newspaper. Following Neymar’s record-shattering transfer to PSG, it became clear that the Brazilian was going to be the main focus at Parc des Princes.

However, over the course of last season, Edison Cavani managed to break the all-time club goal-scoring record, cementing his place in the greats of this famous Parisian club. The situation between Neymar and Cavani came out in public during early last season, when against Lyon, the paired came head to head to decide who will be taking the spot kick that was awarded around 10 minutes before the final. After a brief exchange of words, it was Cavani who managed to come out on top but unfortunately the Uruguayan missed it. However, that was just the start of the problems between him and Neymar.
The then manager Unai Emery tried his best to sort out the situation and calm the dressing room but as the season went on, tensions were clearly visible. Now with hours to go before the 2018-2019 season, Tuchel believes that he will have no problem in dealing with his star players and making sure everyone is together as they look to conquer Europe this season.
Ahead of the opening, Tuchel spoke to the press and said,”I have not had any troubles with my teams before doing this but I noticed from outside that there was an issue in the last season. Even if it might sound naive, I still believe we find solutions with the players. It’s not my way to write a name down half an hour before kick-off because that will create a lot of trouble.”

The good news is that neither Tuchel or Neymar will not have to worry about Cavani for a few days as the Uruguayan striker is still recovering from the injury he sustained during his stint with the national team at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
“The goal is to find solutions with the guys. I am happy to have players who are hungry to score. For them, every goal counts. It’s like this with the strikers and that’s a good thing,” added Tuchel.
Apart from Neymar and Cavani, Tuchel also has to deal with another superstar and that is Kylian Mbappe, who has just returned from his summer holiday, after helping France win the World Cup in Russia. All three of PSG’s star players will need to work together if the club is going to achieve success in Europe, a soul target of their’s following the millions spent last summer in bringing in Neymar and Mbappe.
