Leading Belgian daily HLN, via journalist Kristof Terreur, has provided the latest Kevin de Bruyne injury update which will come as a major boost to Manchester City fans across the globe. The update has confirmed that the 27-year-old star will not be needing surgery and is likely to be out for a period of around two months.

De Bruyne went for a consultation with Catalan knee specialist Ramon Cugat in Barcelona on Thursday which basically confirmed what Manchester City‘s club doctors had assessed at the Etihad campus earlier this week. Only the lateral band of de Bruyne’s right knee was affected during a training session.

While the said injury usually keeps a footballer out for around two to four months, the Belgian star’s case has eventually turned out to be the most favourable for Pep Guardiola and Man City as he has been ruled out for eight to nine weeks – for the same amount of time as during the 2016/17 season when he had sustained a similar sort of injury.

Man City boss Guardiola is scheduled to take a press conference later today and will provide an official update on the Kevin de Bruyne injury and the period of time he is expected to be out for.

De Bruyne is in safe hands

The fact that the midfield dynamo flew back and forth to Barcelona for a ‘second opinion’ in Hospital Quironsalud is a regular happening and has been a feature at the club ever since Guardiola’s arrival as boss. Dr. Cugat has been a mentor to the Spanish tactician and built his reputation as a specialist sports consultant with FC Barcelona.

The 68-year-old practitioner has also built a team of specialists around him and has handled cases of noteworthy patients like Andres Iniesta, Xavi, Luis Enrique, Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o, Carles Puyol, Cesc Fabregas, David Villa, David Silva, Pippo Inzaghi, Arturo Vidal, Pablo Zabaleta, Matias Suarez, Thibaut Courtois, De Bruyne, Jan Vertonghen, Vincent Kompany, Dani Alves and even ski master Lindsey Vonn.
