Pep Guardiola reveals when he will leave Manchester City
  • Pep Guardiola believes the day he will stop improving Manchester City he will leave the club
  • Manchester City won the 2017/18 Premier League title by amassing 100 points

In today’s latest Manchester City news, Pep Guardiola has made it clear to the British media that the day he will think he cannot improve this Man City side any further he will tell the board about his decision to leave the club. Pep Guardiola achieved an impossible task of winning 100 points with Manchester City last season and took them to a dominating Premier League win. Guardiola was speaking in Sky Sports’ kick-off show for the 2018/19 Premier League season and revealed that there are a lot of ways in which his team can still improve this season. Guardiola was susceptible about replicating the tally of 100 points from last season, however, Guardiola is consistently striving to ensure he manages to maintain the hunger and determination in his squad.

Guardiola reveals when he will leave Manchester City

While speaking with Sky Sports, Guardiola was speaking very fondly about his side and claimed that the new signing Riyad Mahrez will only help to improve the competition for places in the team. Guardiola also claimed that if a player was good on his right foot last season, they must work to get even better with their left-foot and other small details which will make his team a worthy challenger for the Premier League title this season. Guardiola was quite open on the front of leaving Manchester City where the Spaniard claims that the day he stops improving his teams and players, he will find another challenge.

Guardiola has been the kind of manager who has looked to change his team after every 3-4 seasons like he did with Barcelona, Bayern Munich and now Manchester City. One of the things he discussed ahead of the new season is how he would make his strikers work in sync with the central midfielders to defend against the quality attacking side. Guardiola also fancied Chelsea and Liverpool as his biggest title rivals while he expects Manchester United to put up a good fight as well.

John Stones to play in central midfield

Another bit which Pep Guardiola discussed in his interview with Sky Sports how he is looking to use John Stones as an option to play in central midfield and provide cover to Fernandinho. Manchester City failed to sign Jorginho or any midfielder which has left Fernandinho to be the only real option to operate from the central midfielder. Guardiola reckoned that Stones has the physique, is good on the ball and after a successful World Cup 2018 campaign, Stones could be the right player to play from the midfield. Man City have the luxury of picking Vincent Kompany, Aymeric Laporte, Danilo, or Nicolas Otamendi as their first-choice central defenders leaving the passage clear for John Stones to play from central midfield.
