However, during his Press Conference in New Jersey, Lopetegui refused into drawn in any discussions surrounding Thibaut Courtois and his situation vis-i-vis a move to Santiago Bernabeu. The former Spanish manager said, “First of all, as I’ve said, I do not speak about players that do not play for Real Madrid,” Lopetegui said. “The only goalkeepers I can talk about right now are Keylor [Navas], Kiko [Casilla], Andriy [Lunin] and Luca [Zidane].
“If we get to that point, I will speak about it. Keylor is phenomenal, he’s had a great preseason, he’s an extraordinary goalkeeper and we’re thrilled to have him.”
Courtois, who signed for Chelsea back in 2011 and was subsequently loaned out to Atletico Madrid till 2014 has indicated towards his desired move to Real Madrid. Unlike his compatriot Eden Hazard, who has also been linked with the current Champions League winners, Courtois seems to have taken matters into his own hands and hasn’t appeared in Chelsea training all week.
