- Jurgen Klopp is adamant that players are no longer looking at Liverpool as a stepping stone
- Salah and Firmino have already signed new long term deals at the club, with Mane set to follow suit
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has stated that Mohamed Salah will not desert the club and honour the terms of his new contract, which will see him staying at Anfield until 2023. The Egyptian forward scored a staggering 44 goals in his debut campaign for the Reds last season and has inevitably been linked with clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Klopp, however, believes that his current squad is more than happy to be at Liverpool and is certain that the likes of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mo Salah are not looking at the club as a stepping stone to other big clubs in England and Spain.
Klopp hopes Salah, Firmino, Mane will honour their Liverpool contracts
The German tactician’s Liverpool Transfer News comments can be construed in the backdrop of Philippe Coutinho forcing a move to Barcelona in January after making a name for himself as a world-class attacking midfielder at Anfield. The Brazilian star sealed his dream move to Camp Nou when Liverpool finally relented and sanctioned a £142 million sale of the playmaker.
“When I speak about the good mood in the club, that is not only in the stands. We are Liverpool as a team and the boys want to be part of it,” Klopp said.
“That’s really cool and it’s a big achievement for the club because of these boys. Bobby Firmino, Mo Salah and Sadio Mane, and a lot of the others as well, could play for pretty much any team in the world.
“It is an improved situation that these players don’t use us and then go. It’s cool but now we all together have to deliver. Sign your contracts but now, go again.”
After surprising the world by making it to the Champions League final last season, Liverpool have since brought in players like Naby Keita, Fabinho, Alisson Becker and Xherdan Shaqiri to plug in the problem areas in their squad. To add to this Liverpool Transfer News, the club has also tied down Salah and Firmino to long term deals, with Mane set to follow suit in the coming days.
The upcoming season promises to be a good one for Liverpool fans and manager Klopp will be looking to challenge on multiple fronts in 2018/19.
