Indian Super League outfit FC Goa launched it’s official women’s team on Saturday (July 28) ahead of the second edition of the Vedanta Goa Women’s Football League. The ISL team which was a part of the draft at the Goa Football Association office in Panjim on July 25, are only the second ISL team after FC Pune City to field a women’s team. Hence, the development is huge for Indian football news and ISL news, as the slow yet gradual rise of women’s football in India football and ISL football is something to look forward to.

Vedanta Goa Women’s Football League is to begin from August 14

As reported in ISL news or Indian football latest news by the Times of India, the second edition of the Vedanta Goa Women’s Football League is set to begin from August 14 and a total of eight teams are expected to participate. The football coach at Goa’s grassroots level, Naresh Virnodkar, has been given the role to coach the team as the training for the league has already.

As reported in the Indian football latest news, the technical director of FC Goa, Derrick Pereira, spoke about the prospects for the FC Goa women’s team,

“The women’s team will be built in the same image and with the same principles as the men’s team. The club will work extremely hard towards developing and producing talented women footballers and hope to emulate the successful women that represented the national team from Goa in the 1970’s.”
