Unai Emery fully behind his star man Mesut Ozil
Arsenal latest news sees Unai Emery giving his full backing to Mesut Ozil, who even cut short his summer holiday to be with the team for their two matches in Singapore coming up in the next few days. The Arsenal manager said, “All of us want to help Mesut feel like it is his home here with us, like a family and it is a family for every player. He feels here with us that he can work every day, and it is good for us that he decided to come here and work with us before our two matches.”
When questioned whether he agreed with Ozil’s decision and if he had spoken to the German following his arrival from his summer holiday, the boss said, “I am very happy with him, every player is looking together and Mesut has the respect of every player here. Not yet (Spoken to Ozil), because he arrived on Sunday to travel and I prefer to give him the normality in the team and for him to feel good with us.”
Mesut Ozil has made over 90 international appearances for Germany and apart from winning the World Cup in 2014, the Arsenal number 10 has managed to win German player of the year award 5 times in his career, something that he mentioned in his statement announcing his retirement.
Unai Emery is confident of Ozil’s mental stability following a troubled few weeks
In Arsenal latest news, Unai Emery spoke about Mesut Ozil’s 3-page statement and whether the 29-year-old is prepared mentally for the upcoming season. The manager said, “He thinks what is best for him, he explained his decision and here we need to help him. He has experience, he has quality and he has a great mentality and we are going to help him feel good and to show his quality with us. I am sure he is going to have a big season with us.”
The chairman of the current Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich Uli Hoeness had criticized Ozil heavily following his decision to retire. He believed that it was midfielder’s ploy to hide his bad performances behind the statement. In response to Hoeness’ comments, Emery said, “I respect everybody and their opinions, but we are professionals and we need to understand everyone but work for us and to be together. We know the football [world] around us is about opinion and critique, we have a mentality and quality to work away from this opinion.
Through the remaining preseason, we will keep you up to date with Arsenal latest news and Arsenal transfer news. Arsenal play their first preseason friendly in Singapore against Atletico Madrid tomorrow evening at 5:00 PM/IST.
