- Spanish legend Iker Casillas has once again posted a message of support for Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius
- Karius has been under-fire after continuing to make blunders in Liverpool’s pre-season
Former Spain and Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas once again came out in support of under-fire Liverpool shot-stopper Loris Karius as he posted a compilation of the worst errors he made during his own career. The video was accompanied by the message: “Everyone makes mistakes”.
Casillas continues to support Karius
Casillas, who is currently plying his trade in Portugal for FC Porto, had earlier posted a similar tweet to encourage and support Karius after he has continued committing errors in Liverpool’s pre-season, coming on the back of two high-profile blunders in the Champions League final against Real Madrid in Kiev.
The 37-year-old legend, who won a number of trophies during his time at Real Madrid and with the Spanish national team, insisted that the attacks on Karius need to stop following a fresh mistake in the 3-1 loss to Borussia Dortmund in the International Champions Cup (ICC).

Karius’ Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah also tweeted a message of support for the goalkeeper and asked people to leave him alone.
Stay strong Karius, it has happened to the best of players. Ignore those who hate.@LorisKarius

With the hate messages not stopping, Casillas has now gone a step ahead by tweeting a video of his own mistakes, incorporating errors made in Champions League finals and World Cups, as well as the Madrid derby against Atletico Madrid and Portugal’s fiercest fixture between Porto and Benfica. This time however, Casillas did not address Karius by name but it is abundantly clear as to who the post is meant for.
The 50-second clip is accompanied by an important caption which reads: “Behind each one of us is a person. Raise your hand whoever has never made a mistake. Learning from mistakes makes us stronger and accepting them more human. #Ialsomakemistakes.”
It has to be said that this is a particularly touching gesture from the trophy-laden goalkeeper whose CV includes a World Cup, two European Championships and five La Liga titles.
The show of support for the embattled Karius from the football’s elite is good to see as the German keeper has looked like a battered man after the Champions League final and the kind of hate he has been getting since then will only worsen his present condition.
