- Chelsea want to sign Nabil Fekir as Eden Hazard’s replacement if Hazard joins Real Madrid
- Fekir’s move to Liverpool is almost dead after Liverpool’s failure to agree a new transfer bid for Fekir
- Fekir’s future is expected to be sorted out by end of this month
Another day, another Nabil Fekir Transfer News update courtesy the outspoke Lyon Chairman Jean-Michel Aulas after Aulas made it clear that he expects Fekir to stay at Lyon for next season but soon brought that percentage down to 90%. Aulas was speaking with Canal+ and suggested that he is not expecting any bids for Fekir anytime soon but Canal+ have reported that Chelsea have eyed Nabil Fekir as a possible replacement for Eden Hazard if Hazard ends up joining Real Madrid.
Aulas comments on Fekir’s stay at Lyon
Speaking with Canal+, Aulas said: “I do not think that Fekir will leave. He’s one of the best in France – and in the world, since he’s a world champion. He’s a Lyonais, so he’ll be there next season.
“Although in football, nothing is ever certain. I haven’t had the impression that he absolutely wants to leave.
“He’s 90% going to be at Lyon next season. If he hasn’t left by the end of July, he’ll stay.
“It’s not the size of the offer that will make us change our position on Fekir, but the wishes of Nabil himself.”
Chelsea to make a move for Nabil Fekir
Liverpool have ended up making a mockery of their transfer move for the French international midfielder giving other clubs a chance to nab the player in this summer’s transfer window. Chelsea are one of those clubs who are in desperate need of quality players given how Willian and Eden Hazard are rumoured with a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer. Willian is targetted by Barcelona while Real Madrid are hoping to agree a 125million bid for Hazard by the end of this month.
Fekir at the moment is Chelsea’s first choice to replace Hazard or Willian followed by Manchester United’s Anthony Martial. Chelsea are expected to pocket over 150million in sale of Hazard and Willian which The Blues will look to spend on Fekir (65million) and Martial (89million) to provide the new manager Maurizio Sarri a strong squad to work with for next season. Napoli’s Jose Callejon is another name linked with a move to Chelsea with Sarri hoping to bring his former player to Chelsea like he did with Jorginho.
