- Bayern Munich prepared to sell Thiago after the player confirms his will to return to Barcelona
- Barcelona sporting director Eric Abidal has already approved of Thiago’s transfer
- Real Madrid and Manchester United also keeping a close eye on Thiago’s transfer
In today’s latest Barcelona transfer news, Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara has asked Bayern Munich to let him join Barcelona this summer, according to latest reports from Bild. Thiago left Barcelona in 2013 for a modest fee of €25million when Pep Guardiola became the new Bayern Munich manager. However, after spending 5 years at Allianz Arena, Thiago is now looking to move back to Camp Nou and Bild believes that everyone back at the Spanish club is preparing to welcome him and nobody is against the move.
Eric Abidal approves of Thiago’s transfer
In the same report, Bild has revealed that Barcelona’s director of football Eric Abidal has approved Thiago’s return to the club and is looking to bring down Bayern Munich’s €70million valuation of the player. New Bayern Munich manager Niko Kovac is looking to trim down the size of his squad and has put Thiago, Robert Lewandowski, Jerome Boateng and Bernat for sale and reports are that Bayern Munich will accept a viable offer if any club decides to sign any of these players.
No more Xavi-Iniesta hoodoo for Thiago
Back in 2013 when Thiago Alcantara left Barcelona it was because at that time the likes of Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta, and Cesc Fabregas were ahead of Thiago in the pecking order. However, with Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas and lately Paulinho has all departed from the club and the stage is set for Thiago to re-join his boyhood club and be an important player for the club. Bayern Munich have already planned their 2018/19 season in terms of transfer business after signing Leon Goretzka from Schalke which will allow Thiago’s sale to Barcelona.
Manchester United and Real Madrid keeping a close eye on Thiago
Even though it looks certain that if Thiago leaves Bayern Munich it will be for Barcelona, however, Manchester United and Real Madrid are also keeping an eye on Thiago’s transfer situation at Bayern Munich and if Barcelona fail to meet Bayern’s valuation for Thiago, these two clubs will be ready to make their offer for the Spanish international star.
Thiago is one of the best ball-keeping midfielders in the world and both Real Madrid and Manchester United are in the hunt for such a midfielder who can keep the ball under pressure and spray the play around for their attacker. Thiago’s transfer is likely to be sorted in coming weeks before Barcelona and Bayern Munich kick-start their domestic 2018/19 season.
