Indian Super League (ISL) outfit Kerala Blasters FC will face Melbourne City FC and Girona FC, as part of their preparations for the ISL 2018-19 season. The pre-season tournament, called Toyota Yaris LaLiga World Tournament, will kick-off on 24 July, with Kerala Blasters FC taking on Melbourne City FC at the JLN Stadium in Kochi, India, in the opening clash. The tournament is a first-of-it’s-kind in India, and is set to make waves in Indian football latest news as the top-rated teams from the Australian A-league and the Spanish La Liga will lock horns with the ISL team KBFC.
The squads for the A-League giants Melbourne City FC, La Liga side Girona FC and ISL team KBFC were announced in the run-up to the pre-season tournament. ISL team Kerala Blasters FC will take on Melbourne City on July 24, followed by which Melbourne City will take on Girona FC on July 27. On July 28, Kerala Blasters will play their final match against the Spanish club Girona FC.
ISL team Kerala Blasters raise their stakes ahead of ISL 2018-19 season
Kerala Blasters’ performance in the 2017-18 ISL season had suffered a little where they finished 6th in the 10-team league, and were later eliminated from the round of 16 in the inaugural edition of the Super Cup. In order to overhaul their chances for the ISL 2018-19 season, Kerala Blasters FC are making power moves, as by bringing in some fresh players they have made several changes in the squad’s structure, as well. Their biggest signing for the ISL 2018-19 season has been of the India international defender Anas Edathodika, who will be seen pairing up with his national team’s co-defender Sandesh Jhingan. KBFC announce 31-man squad for the tournament
Ahead of India’s first-ever pre-season football tournament, Kerala Blasters have announced their 31-man squad. Quite a few new Indian signings have been made by the ISL team KBFC, namely; Naveen Kumar, Dheeraj Singh, Anas Edathodika, Halicharan Narzary, Semilen Doungel and Jithin MS. As reported by Goal in the latest Indian football news, the ISL team is currently going through pre-season training at the Transstadia, Ahmedabad.
The other two teams are coming off impressive performances as well, on the other hand. Melbourne City FC had finished up third in the last season of A-League, and had qualified for the final series as well, from where they were eliminated in the semi-finals. Girona FC had finished 10th in the last season of La Liga, which has 20 teams including world-dominators Barcelona FC and Real Madrid.
Melbourne City have also announced their squad and are being expected to arrive in Kochi sometime this week, while Girona FC will reach Kochi on July 25.
