- Chelsea want to re-sign Petr Cech this summer after Real Madrid agree a deal for Thibaut Courtois
- Leicester City’s Kasper Schmeichel is also seen as a possible goalkeeper signing for Chelsea this summer
In one of the most bizarre Chelsea transfer news, Chelsea want to re-sign Peter Cech if Thibaut Courtois joins Real Madrid this summer, reports Sky Sports. According to reports, Chelsea are certain to lose Thibaut Courtois to Real Madrid after Los Blancos have agreed a €35million deal to sign Courtois leaving Chelsea a tough task of signing a quality goalkeeper with less than 4 weeks left in Premier League’s summer transfer window. Sky Sports claim Petr Cech and Kasper Schmeichel are favourites to become Chelsea’s new number one goalkeeper. Cech had joined Chelsea back in 2004 and served the club for 11 long years before joining Arsenal in the summer of 2015.
Chelsea want Cech or Schmeichel to replace Courtois
Leicester City and Denmark goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel had a terrific FIFA World Cup 2018 and is catching the eye of several big clubs with Chelsea being his preferred destination. Schmeichel would cost Chelsea anything in the region of €30-35million which will then allow Courtois to join Real Madrid as RMC Sport believes Chelsea will not sell Courtois before they have signed a proper replacement.
As for Petr Cech’s possible return to Stamford Bridge, it is seen as the last-minute solution for Chelsea if they are unable to sign a quality goalkeeper this summer. Arsenal have already signed Bernd Leno this summer and Cech is most likely to warm the bench unless Chelsea comes in with a late offer and sign their former star who was controversially sold to Arsenal 3 seasons ago. If Petr Cech leaves Arsenal, it would then keep David Ospina at the club as Arsenal’s number 2 choice goalkeeper for next season.
Liverpool have beaten Chelsea for Allison Becker
In latest Chelsea transfer news, it has now been confirmed that Chelsea made a late attempt to hijack Liverpool’s transfer move for AS Roma goalkeeper Allison Becker but the Brazilian is edging closer to sign for Liverpool, reports Di Marzio. Allison will command a transfer fee of beyond €70million making him the most expensive goalkeeper in the history of football. With Allison likely to join Liverpool, Chelsea were left with very few options and are now planning a last-moment bid to sign either Leicester’s Kasper Schmeichel or Petr Cech from Arsenal.
Latest Chelsea transfer news and rumours must bring a lot of concerns for the club given the fact that Eden Hazard could quit the club in the summer and there isn’t enough time left for Chelsea to sign a proper replacement for a player like Eden Hazard. CSKA Moscow star Alexander Golovin is reportedly closing a switch to Stamford Bridge but he is definitely not the player Chelsea fans had hoped to start their 2018/19 season with, especially playing from the left-wing which is a position made famous by Eden Hazard in recent years.
