  • Arrigo Sacchi thinks Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Juventus will benefit the club and also Italian football
  • Sacchi also warned Juventus against treating Ronaldo differently as it could lead to dressing room discord

Legendary coach Arrigo Sacchi has hailed Juventus‘ capture of Cristiano Ronaldo and said that Portuguese superstar’s arrival in Turin is great news for Juve and for Italian football in general. Sacchi who has managed teams like Italy, AC Milan, Parma and Atletico Madrid in the past, spoke to Italian network Mediaset after Ronaldo’s transfer from Real Madrid to Juventus was announced on Wednesday.

We were not used to having the best players in Italy and Ronaldo is perhaps the best, he is probably among the two best in the world,” Sacchi said in the interview.

Congratulations to Juventus, this is a good time for the club and the transfer will be good for Juventus and Italian football,” the 72-year-old added.

Sacchi warns Juventus against treating Ronaldo differently

Ronaldo is set to pocket a sum of €30 million net of tax every year in Turin and Sacchi was quick to point out that there could be discord in the Juventus dressing room if their new star is treated differently than the other squad members.

The only doubt I have is that Juventus have always had a great leadership as a club, the salaries of the players were different but the rules have always been the same for everyone, this has to happen with Ronaldo, that way there could be problems inside the dressing room,” he stated.

Ronaldo, who has signed up to represent the fourth club in his senior footballing career after Sporting Lisbon (2002/03), Manchester United (2003/04 to 2008/09) and Real Madrid (2009/10 to 2017/18), has penned a four year deal at Juventus. The Old Lady have paid a transfer fees of €100 million and will also be shelling out a further €12 million in commission and brokerage.

During his nine-year stay at Real Madrid, Ronaldo scored an incredible 450 goals in 438 appearances for the club and also won a host of individual and collective honours including – five Ballon d’Or awards, four Champions League wins, two La Liga titles, two Club World Cups, two European Super Cups, two Copa Del Rey titles and two Spanish Super Cups.
