However, the 26-year-old also received wide criticism from pundits and football fans alike who have grown tired of the Brazilian forward falling on the ground every time an opposition touches him.

Neymar’s reaction leads to anger among the fans and pundits

Neymar who was seen in agony on numerous occasions during the match was particularly criticised for the way he reacted to Miguel Layún’s so-called stamp, which left him rolling around the floor shouting in anguish, something that didn’t please the football fans, who were watching the match.

I don’t much care for criticism, not even for praise because this can influence in a way the athlete’s attitude. In the last two matches, I didn’t talk to the press because there are too many people talking, getting excited. I don’t know if they’re showing off. I am here to win with my teammates.”
Martin O’Neill, who was a pundit on a post-match show for ITV, was visibly frustrated with Neymar’s reactions during the game and didn’t hide his anger when he was asked about it. He said, “His reaction is pathetic, absolutely pathetic. Mark (Clattenburg) is right it’s a red card but the pain threshold of Neymar is incredibly low.”
Brazil will now take on Belgium in the quarter-finals on 6th July at the Kazan Arena.
