  • Claudio Marchisio has cleared the air on his future with Juventus
  • The midfielder wants to stay in Turin but is yet to have a word with the club

Long-time Juventus servant Claudio Marchisio has cleared the air surrounding his future in Turin by stating that he has no intention of seeking a move away from the club this summer. The 32-year-old midfielder has been touted as a target for Premier League giants Chelsea in recent weeks.

Latest Chelsea Transfer News sources suggest that incoming coach Maurizio Sarri might turn to the Juventus dynamo if N’Golo Kante leaves the club for Paris-Saint Germain this summer. Marchisio, on his part, is yet to discuss his future with Old Lady bosses but is hopeful of playing in Turin next season.

Marchisio is yet to have a word with Juventus

Marchisio, who is currently on a vacation in Arzachena, spoke to Italian outlet SportMediaset about his future intentions. “We have not talked with Juventus yet, we will do it in July after the holidays but I am optimistic,” he said in a polite but undecided tone.

The midfielder has spent his whole career at Juventus, except for a short loan spell at Empoli in between. The Italian midfielder emerged through the Turin club’s youth system playing as a forward, modelling himself on childhood hero Alessandro Del Piero, but his career only took off when he switched to playing in a deeper midfield role.

Despite playing a key role in Juventus’ seven straight Serie A titles and his undoubted talents, injuries have prevented Marchisio from developing into one of the world’s best midfielders that he once looked to become and his future at the club is also in doubt now. Miralem Pjanic, Rodrigo Bentancur, Sami Khedira, Blaise Matuidi and recent arrival Emre Can will all be ahead of Marchisio in the Massimiliano Allegri‘s pecking order next season.

With regular playing time hard to come by, Marchisio is still keen to stay put at his boyhood club. He says, “I hope to stay, then we’ll see. I want to play and and I will stay at Juventus. Offers from other teams? There is nothing concrete yet.
