  • Marco Asensio has said that he is not thinking about Liverpool’s mega €180m bid for now
  • The young midfielder is also yet to discuss the bid with his club Real Madrid

When Marco Asensio was asked to comment on his future at a press conference yesterday, he cleared it straight away. “Now is not the time to talk about that. We shall discuss this later,” he said with an absolutely calm head and no sign of panic. Despite not being oblivious to all the Real Madrid Transfer News and talk surrounding him, Asensio is entirely focused on Spain’s 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign right now.

More in Liverpool Transfer News as the club’s rather superficial bid of 180 million Euros has indeed been acknowledged by the 22-year-old and it can be said that he failed to rule out the move completely at this stage. Reliable Spanish newspaper Marca has also reported that the Premier League giants have indeed made an offer as their manager Jurgen Klopp has been an admirer of Asensio’s qualities for many years now.

If Liverpool do somehow land him this summer, Asensio would be unveiled as their superstar marquee signing of the summer. However, the club is well aware of the fact that they will have to break the bank to make the deal happen – both in terms of transfer fees and wages. In turn, Asensio will also be accorded the quintessential ‘star status’ at both economic level and sporting level, which is the most important facet at this crucial stage of his career.

Real Madrid and Asensio both calm for now

Marca have further reported in their Real Madrid Latest News columns that neither the club nor the player have taken any initiative to discuss Liverpool’s mammoth offer. For now, both Real Madrid and Asensio remain calm and haven’t had any conversations but it should be kept in mind that talk about the young midfielder’s present and immediate future isn’t going to die anytime soon.

This is primarily down to the fact that Asensio will turn 23 next January and has half the Europe willing to ‘crazy’ like Liverpool for his services as he looks to take the next step in his playing career in the next 12 months or so.

The Spaniard will start his third season at Santiago Bernabeu this summer and will certainly hope to do it with more standing in the squad. Though is a player who is known to have his feet planted firmly on the ground, Asensio is highly ambitious and wants to attain a certain status in the team which he has only craved in the last two years.

Under Zinedine Zidane‘s tutelage, Asensio grew and learnt a lot as a player but it has not translated into a starting role in the team. The former Mallorca man featured in as many as 53 games during the 2017/18 season in all competitions, bettered only Lucas Vazquez’s tally of matches. However, digging a bit deeper into these numbers, it also emerges that he only averaged 54 minutes per appearance which is nowhere near the level of the team’s undisputed stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos, Casemiro, Daniel Carvajal, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Isco.

Regular playing time is something that Asensio would like to start enjoying and that Liverpool can certainly guarantee. But for now, he is not even thinking about a change of scenery with a sole aim of doing well at the ongoing World Cup in Russia. However, Madrid should by no means neglect the entire situation if Florentino Perez does not want to have a problem with one of his most promising young stars.

Also, Asensio is well aware of all the rumours linking the club with Neymar and Hazard, players who will only reduce his playing time further as Gareth Bale has done over the last two years. Recall that he only featured for a solitary minute in the last month’s Champions League final in Kiev.
