- In Arsenal Latest Transfer News, Gareth Bale’s agent has stated that he is highly unlikely to join the Gunners this summer
- Bale’s future remains unresolved at Real Madrid as he is seeking assurances over his playing time
Gareth Bale‘s time at Real Madrid has been a real mixed bag. While the Welshman has won a host of trophies at Santiago Bernabeu, his playing time has been severely restricted due to injuries and form factors. Jonathan Barnett, the player’s agent, has now come out and made it clear that his client will need assurances regarding playing time if he is stay at the capital club next season.
Bale himself cast a major doubt on his future at the club moments after leading Real to Champions League glory in Kiev last month, insisting that he was not happy with his playing time last season under Zinedine Zidane and that his agent would discuss his options.
Bale seeking assurances over playing time at Madrid
Clearing the air, Barnett spoke to Sky Sports News at Royal Ascot and reiterated that Bale still holds the desire of winning the prestigious Ballon d’Or award someday. He also insisted that the winger was indeed happy with life in Spain but might seek new pastures if he is not guaranteed more playing time by new Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui.
“I think we have to have a chat with Real Madrid and see where we’re going. He wants a better year than he had last year. He wants to play more, and that’s paramount to him. I think he’s one of the top three or four players on earth. For somebody like him, he has to play. It’s not about money,” Barnett said.
“He wants to win the Ballon d’Or and I think he can. I think he’s the best there has ever been in that sense (a British player abroad), unless someone can name me someone who’s been more successful.
“I think that goal (in the Champions League final) elevated an interest in him. But we already knew how good he is. He doesn’t need to prove how good he is. It was a magnificent goal and the timing was great too.“
“Bale to Arsenal as likely as me going to the moon”
Arsenal Transfer News – Barnett, who is the chairman of Stellar Group, was then asked if his client would be willing to join new Arsenal boss Unai Emery‘s revolution at the Emirates stadium this summer. The agent, who happens to be an Arsenal fan himself, made it clear that the move was highly unlikely.
“He loves his life in Spain,” Barnett continued. “He has three children, and he’s very happy there. But we have to see. He has to play football.
“As an Arsenal supporter myself I’d love him to play there but it’s got as much chance as me going to the moon.“
Bale emerged as a real phenomenon during his time at Tottenham and ultimately secured a then world-record transfer to Real Madrid back in 2013. If he decides to move, the Welshman will not be short of potential suitors with a number of Premier League heavyweights said to be watching his situation closely.
However, Zidane’s departure from Real Madrid, who regularly selected Isco over Bale, has changed the dynamic and the 28-year-old could possibly be looking at a Spanish new dawn under new manager Julen Lopetegui.
