- Nabil Fekir’s agent has claimed that his client’s move to Anfield could still be on after the World Cup
- The Lyon playmaker was very close to joining Liverpool before the deal collapsed at the very last minute
The Nabil Fekir to Liverpool saga, long dead and buried after Olympique Lyon categorically came out and stated that their captain was staying put, has now taken a fresh twist as Liverpool Latest Transfer News emerged on Monday night. Jean-Pierre Bernes, the France international’s agent has sensationally stated that the reason that his client didn’t sign for Liverpool is because “the story” is not over yet.
“The story is not over” – Fekir’s agent
Bernes appeared for a chat with journalist Patrick Chene on French TV channel La Chaine Info and said: “He didn’t sign because uh, it is not over! This is not the end of the story.”
No other details about this Nabil Fekir News were revealed though – as to why the deal collapsed after reaching such an advanced stage. Bernes, however, did indicate that the whole thing could well be revisited after the end of 2018 FIFA World Cup, where Fekir is currently on national duty with France.

Earlier in the month, Liverpool fans were buzzing about Fekir’s potential arrival at Anfield to play in the Premier League as several reliable news sources and journalists had indicated in Latest Liverpool News that a deal had been struck and the 24-year-old was all set to take over the vacant No.10 slot in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield for the upcoming season.
However, the transfer collapsed at the eleventh hour after reports emerged that Liverpool had fears over a serious knee injury that Fekir suffered three years ago. This was not the only reason listed for the failed transfer with several other conflicting reports floating on the internet.
Fekir had even sat down for an interview with the Reds in-house media channel LFCTV and the club staff had also photographed him in the new Liverpool kit, something which made headlines in Liverpool Latest News sections across social media earlier this month. Whatever be the reason, it certainly looks as though there is more to this than meets the eye and it could soon come to light.
Reliable French outlet Get French Football News (@GFFN on Twitter) also confirmed the latest development and also stated that Fekir will be speaking to press reporters on Tuesday (June 19) at 11 AM (French Time), for the first time since his failed move to Liverpool. Central defender Raphael Varane will also be present at the media briefing.
In recent Liverpool Transfer News, Xherdan Shaqiri and a few other names like Lucas Paqueta have been mooted as possible alternatives to Fekir, but it is pretty obvious that the door hasn’t been completely closed on the Lyon playmaker and he may still move to Liverpool to join Fabinho and Naby Keita and complete new look midfield for the Reds.
