- Indian women’s cricket team defeated Pakistan by 7 wickets today morning
- Harmanpreet Kaur’s side will now take on Bangladesh in the Women’s Asia Cup T20 Final
- Ekta Bisht was awarded the man of the match award for her 3 wickets in 4 overs
Indian women’s team reached it’s 7th consecutive Women’s Asia Cup T20 Final following their 7 wicket win against arch-rivals Pakistan. Harmanpreet Kaur’s side will now prepare to take on Bangladesh in the big final on Sunday (June 10th) at the Kinrara Academy Oval in Kuala Lumpur.
Ekta Bisht the hero for India
Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat first, a decision which came back to haunt them as a brilliant bowling performance by India restricted them to just 72 runs in 20 overs, with only 2 players getting in the double figures, one them being Sana Mir, the star batsman for the side.
In reply, India got off to a shaky start as they lost both Mithali Raj and Deepti Sharma for a duck in the opening 3 overs. However, a superb partnership by Harmanpreet and Smriti Mandhana ensured that India reached mightly close to their target and eventually got over the line with 23 balls to spare.
The star of the show was Ekta Bisht, as she picked up 3 crucial wickets in her 4 overs giving away just 14 runs. India will now take on Bangladesh in Women Asia T20 2018 Final, a team which recently defeated them and broke their 33 matches winning run in the tournament stretching back to the first ever edition in 2004.
Final against Bangladesh won’t be a cake walk
Going into the Final, there will definitely be some points of discussion. The form of veteran players like Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami has been not up to the standards in Women’s Asia Cup Cricket 2018. The latter was the only bowler to not pick a wicket against Pakistan, while the former was dismissed for a duck.
Bangladesh will enter the Women Asia T20 2018 Final high on confidence following their 70 run win against hosts Malaysia. They will be confident they can repeat the performance from the group stage in the Final once again and become the first country after India to win the Women’s Asia Cup.
India will be going out in the Final with revenge on their mind for the shock defeat a few days back. The team is filled with superstars from top to bottom and a 7th Women’s Asia Cup T20 title is not out of sights for sure.
