- Sergio Aguero says he is happy at Manchester City and is happy with Pep Guardiola
- Aguero claims Lionel Messi is his close friend and does not see him ever leave Barcelona
It will be safe to say that Sergio Aguero and Pep Guardiola aren’t going to be sending each other Christmas greetings when their time at Manchester City comes to an end. Guardiola is not a particular fan of Aguero’s playings style despite the Argentine striker affecting the most number of goals for Manchester City last season. Guardiola prefers to pick Gabriel Jesus (when fit) ahead of Aguero which has left the duo’s relationship in cold hands. With Yaya Toure speaking ill about his former manager, it was Sergi Aguero’s turn to explain his relationship with Pep Guardiola as he spoke with the Argentine media ahead of Argentina’s 2018 FIFA World Cup preparations.
Aguero says he is happy with Guardiola
One of the obvious questions Aguero was asked in the interview about his relationship with the current Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola after the striker was constantly benched in key matches. Unlike Yaya Toure, Sergio Aguero was rather calm about his relationship with Pep Guardiola and claimed that he is happy with Guardiola and is ready to defend his Premier League title with Manchester City. Aguero chose not to dwell on the negative side of his relationship with Pep Guardiola and said that he is currently focused on World Cup preparations with Argentina and then he will focus on his club career at Manchester City.
On being asked to comment on his relationship with Guardiola, Aguero said: “We were very clear when we saw each other, I do my job And he does his with me always well. The club is happy and I am happy at the Club”.
Aguero clears Lionel Messi to Manchester City rumours
Another obvious question Sergio Aguero answered was about his relationship with Lionel Messi and if the Argentine superstar could ever leave Barcelona. Aguero has often hailed Messi as the best player he has ever played with and understandably considers him as a very close friend as well since they have been playing football together since the age of 13. Aguero also put all Messi to Man City rumours to bed as he claimed that he does not see Messi leave Barcelona for one simple reason.
Commenting on his relationship with Messi, Aguero said: “With Messi, we have known each other well for more than 14 years, we are very good friends.” Commenting on a possible Barcelona exit for Messi, Aguero commented: “In terms of football, Leo was born in Barcelona, I imagine he finished his career here (Barcelona).”
