The American manufacturer of sports-themed beverage and food products, Gatorade, released a brand new animated film, named ‘Heart of a Lio’, which features the Argentinian footballing supremo Lionel Messi. The animation tells about Messi’s life in a beautiful way, right from the moment he was born to the time he became known as the most lethal attacker and mover with the football, which resulted in the phenomena that whatever the Argentinian did on or off the ground ended up being all over the newspapers as Messi News. It also points out the numerous obstacles that Lio Messi faced his entire life, never forgetting his mantra – “If you have a dream to chase, nothing can stop you.”
Lionel Messi, aka, ‘Lio’, is not just one of the best footballers but is also counted among the best athletes of the current era. And coming off another successful season in La Liga with his champion club Barcelona, the video also hypes the run up to Messi World Cup performance.
Another key story in Messi News, is the fact that in the summer of 2018, the 30-year-old has the opportunity to do the one thing that he’s never done with his national team, Argentina, i.e. to take home the upcoming edition of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. And the animated film by Gatorade tells the journey that Messi took from his birth to the field, with an underlying principle that dictates that even the best are made not by chance, but by their hard-work which never lags behind their ambitions.
Heart of a Lio – The movie described
At the start of the animated short movie which is a little over four minutes, we see Messi as a newborn, who possesses a special gift or talent, which is seen when he dribbles his baby tears. The film then follows him as a young soccer whiz-kid, beating entire defensive units with his intricately beautiful yet lethal footwork and instinctive goal scoring.
A fork in Messi’s ambitious road is presented when he is told of his small height, and as the Argentinian ponders over his future as world’s best footballer with a little doubt, he is visited by a future version of himself, who, wearing the Barca No. 10, tells him not to give up on his dream.
The newly motivated and Lio then joins Barcelona with a vision, and shows that he has all the factors that are needed to succeed at the highest levels of the sport. The film even presents a more fantasy-like plot, when a special kit “designed to stop Messi” is introduced, having a parachute-style pants which does not succeed in its design, as Messi nutmegs his way out of that trap as well.
Messi’s path towards continued success and glory is not easy, however, as he goes through a professional decline and a time of self doubt. But what has been the essence of the video called ‘Heart of a Lio’, Messi digs deep and finds his younger self pulling himself up by working harder than ever and dreaming of a Messi World Cup win. The film was created by TBWA\Chiat\Day Los Angeles with Gizmo as the animation production company.
