5 best overseas players in IPL 2018

Ahead of the IPl 2018 final, we take a look at the 5 best overseas players in IPL 2018

Indian Premier League 2017/18 season has been a great success with all the teams putting on memorable performances as the race for the playoff spots was closer than any other IPL season in the past. One of the biggest reasons for that is IPL 2018 overseas players and what they bought to this year’s competition. Despite losing the likes of Mitchell Starc, Patt Cummins, David Warner, and Steve Smith early in the season, we saw many breathtaking performances from the IPL 2018 overseas players. Ahead of the IPL 2018 Final, we remember those wonderful performances and list 5 best overseas players in IPL 2018.

5). Jos Buttler – Rajasthan Royals

In a season filled with a lot of Ifs and Buts, Rajasthan Royals think tank must be gutted at the moment for not sending Jos Buttler to open the innings earlier in the season. Buttler ended up amassing 548 runs in the IPL 2018 season which included 2 back to back 90+ scores where he led RR team 2018 to the win on his own. Buttler fell 11 runs short of scoring 6 consecutive IPL centuries which would have been an all-time record. Buttler played innings of 67, 51, 82, 95*, 94* and 39 which sent Rajasthan Royals to the IL 2018 playoff rounds. Unfortunately for The Royals, Buttler had to leave IPL 2018 due to international commitments which saw Rajasthan crash out against Kolkata Knight Riders but Jos Buttler IPL 2018 left an unforgettable mark on IPL 2018 season and was one of the standouts IPL 2018 overseas players.

4). AJ Tye – Kings XI Punjab

Regardless of the competition, AJ Tye has developed into a serial wicket-taker in T20 cricket. AJ Tye picked 24 wickets from 14 matches and was a menace for batsmen in the middle and death overs. Tye’s variations make him an unplayable bowler where his slower balls are a potent weapon which batsmen are yet to find an answer to. Tye is a specialist in knuckle balls which every fast bowler is now looking to emulate these days. Tye had a wonderful IPL campaign where he is more than likely to end the season as IPL 2018 Purple Cap winner. With his 24 wickets at an average of 18.66 makes Tye feature in our list of 5 best IPL 2018 overseas players.

3). Rashid Khan – Sunrisers Hyderabad

Such has been Rashid Khan’s magic in last 12- months that you cannot make any list of a T20 competition without Rashid Khan’s name being mentioned in it. Once again, Rashid Khan IPL 2018 left batsmen spellbound with his flight, spin and above all wicket-taking ability. Rashid has picked 18 wickets from 15 IPL matches this season and has an economy of less than 7 RPO. Among his scalps, Rashid Khan IPL 2018 picked the wickets of AB de Villiers, Virat Kohli, and MS Dhoni and all of them were clean bowled dismissals showing the caliber Rashid Khan operates at. It was almost a given that Rashid Khan will feature in our list of 5 best overseas players in IPL 2018.

2). Sunil Narine – Kolkata Knight Riders

The ever so mercurial Sunil Narine currently leads the charts for IPL 2018 Most Valuable Player (MVP) after contributing equally with both bat and ball. Sunil Narine IPL 2018 has been a joy to watch where his batting has given Kolkata Knight Riders brisk starts in powerplay overs whereas Narine’s bowling has not allowed the opposing teams get after KKR bowlers throughout the competition. Narne has scored 331 runs in IPL 2018 at a strike rate of 180 and picked 16 wickets at a strike rate of 21. Such has been Narine’s impact on KKR team 2018 that every time Narine scores 20 or more runs in a game, KKR team 2018 end up winning 80% of those matches. Narine has developed into a serial match winner for KKR team 2018 and the Knight Riders fans must hope that Narine can be at his game one more time which will all but guarantee a place for KKR team 2018 in the IPL 2018 final.

1). Kane Williamson – Sunrisers Hyderabad

Many might argue that Sunil Narine should be topping the list of 5 best overseas players in IPL 2018 but we have opted to go for Kane Williamson because of the sheer pressure and criticism Williamson came into the IPL 2018. Warner’s sudden ban meant Williamson was given the duty of leading SRH team 2018 in the 11th our and Kane Williamson IPL 2018 has been sensational while leading his team. Apart from his brilliant captaincy, Kane Williamson has been exceptional with the bat and is all but certain to win this season’s Orange Cap. Williamson has scored 685 runs and looks certain to cross the 700-run mark this year which comes as a massive surprise as no one gave Kane Williamson IPL 2018 any chance of succeeding this season as he is not the typical T20 batsmen with power and aggression. Williamson is a batsman who likes to place and time the ball which has worked wonders for him as he has scored 685 runs at a strike rate of 143 with 8 fifties in 15 innings so far. These numbers are extraordinary and make him the best overseason player in IPL 2018 his season.
