The latest sporting personality to grace this fun-filled one on one interview is none other than Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar. Over the course of this 2-part Sachin Tendulkar Breakfast With Champions interview, the master blaster gave numerous anecdotes from his playing career and also spoke widely about his struggles as 16-year-old Indian player on the tour to Pakistan. For all viewers who had seen the show, Sachin Tendulkar was at the top of the wishlist of many and that wish has been granted this week, as Breakfast With Champions Sachin Tendulkar episode was launched on Youtube.
Ashish Nehra – The joker in the Indian dressing room?
During his one on one conversation with Gaurav Kapoor, Sachin also spoke about his ex Indian team-mates ranging from Sourav Ganguly with whom he shared a room during an under-15 coaching camp in Indore to Virender Sehwag, with whom the 45-year-old shared numerous partnership at the top of the order. When the conversation about the jokers in the Indian dressing room came up, the man with 100 international hundreds was clear that the greatest entertainer in the Indian team was fast-bowler Ashish Nehra, the man who leads Tendulkar in the number of surgeries he has gone through in his career by 12 to 10.
Speaking about Ashish Nehra, Tendulkar said, “When Ashish enters a room, everyone else just listens. When you are talking about the greatest entertainer, here is ours. Ashish Nehra is the greatest entertainer I can say that.”
Sachin Tendulkar’s understanding of Virender Sehwag’s mindset
In the latter part of the Sachin Tendulkar Breakfast With Champions interview, the master blaster was asked about the ever funny Virender Sehwag and the experience of batting with him. “Viru was a little serious in the initial few years but when he got to know that even I was a bit relaxed and enjoying having fun from time to time, our bonding just became stronger from there on. He used to whistle during batting in order to distract his mind from thinking of playing attacking shots to every corner of the ground.”
“I have batted a lot with Viru and I understood that when the whole world thought that Sehwag was not going to hit, he was definitely going to hit then,” said Sachin while chuckling away.
The man with over 30,000 international runs also spoke about MS Dhoni and why he backed him as a captain from his early days itself. Tendulkar said,”Whenever I fielded in the slips with him, I would be discussing with him constantly. I would ask him what he thought about field placements and tried to interact with him as much as possible. In that, I realised that Dhoni’s thinking was different.”
We must also remember that it was under MS Dhoni‘s captaincy that Sachin Tendulkar finally achieved his dream of winning the World Cup and over the years, the champion batsman has had nothing but praise for the World Cup-winning captain. Breakfast With Champions Sachin Tendulkar episode will give his fans a chance to watch the master blaster in a much more relaxed manner than he has ever been. He speaks not only about ex-team-mates but also sheds light on the struggle during his younger days.
