7 players of Minerva Punjab FC make the cut as India U16 gear up for their U16 AFC Cup to be held in Malaysia in September 2018.
Apollo backed Minerva Punjab FC are proud to announce that lately 3 of their Youth Team products have been called up for the India U16 Team preparatory camp to be held in Goa.
Minerva Punjab FC who have now become the feeder club for the Indian National Football Team’s various age groups have contributed 33 players since its inception back 2 years ago. With the addition of Salman Samson, Harpreet Singh and Bikash Yumnam who have been called up recently the number sums up to a whooping 36 who are contributed to represent the Nation.
Interestingly, India’s U16 gear up for their U16 AFC Cup which is scheduled to be held in Malaysia in September already features 4 Minerva Punjab FC players in the likes of Lalchhanhima Sailo, Moirangthem Thoiba and Vikram Partap. Vikram who was chiseled at the Mohali club boost of high leadership qualities which earned him the Captain’s armband for India U15 and India U16 in various International Tournaments including the SAFF Cup 2017.
With a total of 7 players contributed to Indian U-16 Team, Minerva Punjab FC add another feather to their cap making the Northern Region proud and bringing the glory days of footballing back to Punjab.
Incase you didn’t know : The prestigious U16 AFC Cup tournament will see 16 Nations compete for the silverware out of which top four teams of the tournament will qualify for the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup as the AFC representatives.
India are clubbed with Defending Champions Iran, Vietnam and Indonesia in Group C but the Blue cubs have managed to put up a impressive performance under the guidance of Ex-India International Bibiano Fernandes and his team.
