David Willey is perhaps the most talked about cricketer in last 24 hours after being announced as the new signing for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). It looked like we may not see the brilliance of David Willey at the IPL 2018 after Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Daredevils all passed on the opportunity to sign the explosive all-rounder, however, David Willey IPL 2018 career is finally off and running at the 4th attempt as CSK have brought Willey in as the Kedar Jadhav replacement for this season. Jadhav tore his hamstring in the win over Mumbai Indians and has been ruled out of rest of the IPL 2018 season. While David Willey has previously played in India (ICC T20 World Cup), IPL fans still do not know a lot about the left-arm pacer who can hit the ball a long distance. David Willey is the son of former England test and ODI cricketer Peter Willey who is also renowned as one of the most respectable umpires in the modern game. A thing about Peter Willey is always mentioned is how tough he was as a cricketer and according to the legendary stories, Peter Willey is the only man to have ever scared Ian Botham. With Peter Willey’s influence around, David Willey is certain to keep his feet grounded and focus on his playing career.

2). David Willey has played 54 international matches without making his test debut

Many have tipped David Willey to be the answer to England’s left-arm bowling crisis. In a rain-shortened Friends Life Twenty20 Final against Surrey, David Willey led Northamptonshire to a 102-run victory where he first scored 60 runs with the bat and then later came on to clean the tail and complete a hat-trick.
