After a decade of near misses, Kings XI Punjab will be hoping that the KXIP team 2018 assembled by the team management in the auction is capable enough to help the franchise win their maiden IPL title this season. KXIP squad 2018 is by far the most balanced side that the franchise has had till now in it’s IPL journey. Apart from T20 superstars like Aaron Finch, Chris Gayle, Yuvraj Singh, Andrew Tye and David Miller, KXIP 2018 also managed to rope in some exciting young talent from all over India and abroad. Players like Mayank Agarwal IPL 2018, Karun Nair IPL 2018 and Mujeeb Zadran IPL 2018 campaigns will be key for KXIP. Along with the complete overhaul of the squad, Kings XI Punjab 2018 team will be captained by Indian senior test bowler Ravichandran Ashwin. The off-spinner will step into the captain’s shoe for the first time in the IPL this season.

Apart from the above-mentioned names, the focus will also be on players like Axar Patel, who was retained by the team and KL Rahul, who is only now starting to become a regular in the Indian team in limited-over format. In this article, we will focus on the lesser-known players from the KXIP squad 2018.

Mayank Agarwal IPL 2018 Auction Fee – INR 1 Cr

Given how the IPL auction works, it was pretty shocking to see the price tag, Mayank Agarwal generated following what could only be called an epic domestic season. The Karnataka player culminated the season, raking up a mind-boggling 2,141 runs in 30 innings and in the process broke the highest run-getter record surpassing his compatriot Shreyas Iyer’s record of 1947 set in the 2015-16 season.

Mayank who has previously played for RCB and RPS, will be hoping that after being snubbed for the Nidahas Trophy in Sri Lanka by the selectors, he can showcase his talent on a massive stage like IPL and sneak into the selector’s mind before the preparations for the 2019 World Cup start. With so many talented openers in the squad, Mayank Agarwal IPL 2018 could start from the bench but the youngster must make sure that the when the opportunity arises he is ready to capitalise on it in the best way possible.

Mujeeb Zadran IPL 2018 Auction Fee – INR 4 Cr

17-year-old Mujeeb Zadran was only 16 years old when KXIP decided to shell out a massive INR 4 crore to bring him into the KXIP squad 2018. Following some excellent performances at the youth level, Mujeeb became the first male cricket to play international cricket who was born in the 21st century. The youngster has only played 15 ODI’s for the senior Afghanistan team and 2 T20I, but even in his short career, the right-arm off-break bowler has managed to produce some exceptional performances for his country.

Mujeeb was hugely impressive in the recently concluded ICC World Cup Qualifiers, where he ended up being the highest wicket-taker over his compatriot Rashid Khan and even picked up 4 wickets in the final against Windies. Mujeed Zadran IPL 2018 will mainly see him being a squad player for the KXIP team 2018 but there is no doubting the fact that maybe not this season but in years to come he will go on to become one of the best not only in the IPL but in the world.

Karun Nair IPL 2018 Auction Fee – INR 5.6 Cr

After spending two very successful seasons with Delhi Daredevils, Karun Nair will be appearing for the KXIP team 2018 following the whopping 5.6 crore the franchise paid to get him in the auction. Nair will be hoping that his recent domestic form can help him take KXIP till the end. The 26-year-old had a fantastic domestic season with his stateside Karnataka. He not only took led the team to Vijay Hazare Trophy with some fine performances with the bat but was also the only player to score 2 centuries in the this year’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Karun Nair started off his international career with a bang, becoming the quickest batsman to a maiden triple-hundred in Test cricket history.  But since then he has seen his stokes go down at the international stage and hence, this season of IPL will be another chance for him to break into the Indian team.

Barinder Sran IPL 2018 Auction Fee – INR 2.2 Cr

Having made just 1 appearance for the Sunrisers Hyderabad last season, Barinder Sran will be hoping that he contributes much more to the KXIP team 2018 campaign this time around. The 25-year-old pacer was purchased by the franchise for INR 2.2 crore following his impressive performances with the Indian team in the limited over matches. Having not bowled too much in the IPL till now, Sran will be KXIP’s X-Factor this season as they look to mount a proper title challenge this season. The fact that Sran picked up Aaron Finch, David Warner and Steve Smith in his debut ODI match for India just goes to show the type of talent the youngster has. For Barinder Sran IPL 2018 will be very crucial as he looks to make it back into the Indian side before next year’s World Cup.

Ankit Rajpoot IPL 2018 Auction Fee – INR 3 Cr

Ankit Rajpoot who hails from Uttar Pradesh is a highly rated bowler, who has performed exceptionally well for his stateside in the past and hence it wasn’t surprising to see KXIP spend INR 3 crore to acquire a player who has played only 11 IPL matches till now. He was pretty decent for Kolkata Knight Riders last season and the 2-time champions tried their best to get the youngster back in their squad for the 11th season but KXIP manage to outbid at the right moment. With not to many international seamers in the team, Ankit Rajpoot IPL 2018 will be under the spotlight as the 24-year-old looks to help his team go the distance this season.
