On Sunday (April 8), playing for Kings XI Punjab against Delhi Daredevils, opening batsman KL Rahul stepped out on the crease and wreaked havoc on Delhi Daredevils bowling lineup as he registered the fastest ever half century in Indian Premier League history, writing his name in the record books at the Punjab Cricket Associations Stadium in Mohali. Rahul, who was bought for whopping INR 11 crore by Kings XI Punjab, then went on to score 11 runs from Mohammed Shami‘s next over, before taking on leg-spinner Amit Mishra in a breath-taking display of crips and precise power hitting.

After KL Rahul fastest 50 got him the ‘Player of the Match’ award, the opening batsman said, as reported by the Times of India, “For years, I have been branded a Test cricketer. It’s good for me to be up there, creating history and breaking records. Hope to continue this way.”

KL Rahul IPL 2018 campaign displayed immense promise as he hit six fours and four sixes during his stay at the crease, before being dismissed for 51 runs by South Africa cricketer Chris Morris.

Kings XI were 52 for no loss after three overs with Rahul’s partner Mayank Agarwal scoring just one run off three deliveries. Kings XI Punjab started their IPL 11 campaign on a high note, as KL Rahul fastest 50 resulted in the defeat for Delhi Daredevils by six wickets.
