After his partner Chris Lynn was dismissed in the second over by Chris Woakes, Narine kept the scoring momentum running, and smacked Woakes and Washington Sundar in the fourth and fifth over, racing to fifty runs in just 17 balls.

However, the West Indian eventually gave in to a lethal Umesh Yadav, but set a perfect platform for KKR as they reached 68 runs with a loss of two by the end of Powerplay overs.

As reported by Firstpost, Sunil Narine, who was named the Man of the Match, said after the match was over, “It’s good to get the ball rolling in the first game. I wouldn’t see myself as opening batsmen. Whatever role the teams wants to play, I’m happy to do it. It’s a good cricket wicket, whatever you do on the field, it’s gonna benefit you.”

Coming to Nitish Rana IPL 2018 performance, the 24-year-old made sure that KKR’s run-rate remained high, as he started hitting big shots against Kulwant Khejroliya in the seventh over, sending the ball out for a six and a four. Returning to his duty, Umesh Yadav kept the pressure building for the batsmen and got Robin Uthappa’s wicket (13) in the eighth over. To start things off, it was RCB opener Brendon McCullum who scored a 27-ball 43-run knock, which included six boundaries and two sixers, while AB de Villiers too made the Eden Gardens crowd jump from their seats through an exhilarating 23-ball 44-run knock (five sixes, one boundary). India and RCB team captain Virat Kohli scored 31 runs off 33 balls and left the crease for Mandeep Singh to step in and post up a challenging total on the board for KKR.
