- Umesh Yadav IPL 2018 is looking forward to playing under Virat Kohli at RCB Team 2018
- The Indian pacer believes RCB 2018 has the perfect balance to go all the way in IPL 2018
After playing for Delhi Daredevils and Kolkata Knight Riders in the last few sesons, premier Indian pacer Umesh Yadav will be turning out for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this season. The 30-year-old is excited at the prospect of playing under Virat Kohli, who is also his captain at the international level and has admittedly helped in taking the pacer’s game to a new level in the last two years. The RCB Team 2018 shelled out as much INR 4.20 crore to have Umesh Yadav IPL 2018 onboard and the fast bowler is itching to lead his new side to their maiden IPL title this year.
Before RCB 2018 season opener against the Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday (April 8), Umesh spoke to a news channel and revealed his aspirations and plans for RCB Team 2018.
On playing for RCB Team 2018 under Virat Kohli’s captaincy
“Playing under Virat is always a pleasure, he has been our captain for the last 2-3 years and playing under his captaincy is always a fun experience. His attitude and confidence on the ground ignites a spark inside the other players as well. Whenever a fast bowler picks a wicket for India, it feels like the captain himself has picked up the wicket and it drives you to do even better for your team,” Umesh said.
“Can RCB 2018 win the IPL this year?”
Umesh Yadav IPL 2018 is optimistic that RCB Team 2018 can life their first ever IPL trophy this season. “Obviously RCB has been doing well in the last few years. This year, we have an array of batting legends like Virat Kohli, Ab de Villiers, Brendon McCullum and Quinton de Kock.. all these guys have been doing well continuously.
“RCB’s bowling attack was a bit weak in the past but we have a good all-round bowling unit going into IPL 2018. Our young fast bowlers and spinners will fit into the team combination seamlessly and it won’t be easy for opposition batsmen to score big runs against us. I’m myself very motivated to do well and win the IPL for Virat and RCB,” he added.
On whether he is looking to use IPL 2018 to prepare for the bigger challenges ahead
After the IPL gets over in May, India are scheduled to embark on two big tours of England and Australia in the coming months. Also coming up is the ODI World Cup next summer. As such, several Indian players will be looking to use the IPL as a stage to get into the zone and prepare for the bigger challenges that lie ahead. Umesh Yadav IPL 2018 is no exception.
“The IPL is played in the T20 format so you can’t guarantee a consistent showing over a period of 45 days but yes it is definitely a platform for us. If you do well in the IPL, you can set a platform for the next one year as your performance in this league is visible to the people as well. But I have never though on the lines of getting into the Indian team on the basis of my IPL show,” he signed off.
