Despite an injury setback, MD Nidheesh’s dream to play for Mumbai Indians comes to reality
In order to fulfill his dream to play for the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2018, MD Nidheesh was fully occupied in the trials for MI ahead of the IPL 2018 auctions. However, what was supposed to be the biggest day of his life ended in a heartbreak as the 26-year-old pacer had suffered a knee injury which cut short his trial with the IPL 2017 title winners.
In a positive twist of fate, however, MD Nidheesh was eventually picked up by the Mumbai Indians for a base price of INR 20 lakh, at the IPL 2018 auction which was held in January 2018. Speaking to Mumbai Indians TV, Nidheesh said,
“I had given up hopes of playing in the IPL, but then I got a call from Tinu Sir who told me that Mumbai Indians had inquired about me. I just asked him if I stand any chance of getting picked.”
“I was informed by a media person and I didn’t know how to express it. I was really excited and thankful to god and my parents,” Nidheesh recalled the dream moment.
