Sunrisers Hyderabad have stepped up their search in a bid to find the ideal David Warner replacement after he was suspended by Indian Premier League’s committee following the ball tampering scandal which saw Warner come out as the biggest culprit. According to reports, Sunrisers Hyderabad have approached Sri Lanka’s destructive batsman Kusal Perera as a possible David Warner replacement for the upcoming IPL 2018 season. Earlier in the day, Kane Williamson was appointed as the new SRH captain replacing Warner for this season.

Sunrisers approach Kusal Perera as the ideal David Warner replacement

As per the latest reports from Timesnow, Sunrisers have made a formal approach to sign the Sri Lanka top order batsman Kusal Perera for the IPL 2018 season as the ideal David Warner replacement after Perera’s exceptional performances in the Nidahas Trophy 2018 against India and Bangladesh.

One of the official Sunrisers sources said: “Yes We have approached Kusal Perera as a replacement for Warner. Like Warner, he is also a devastating batsman and our analyst informed us that he has been in tremendous form in last few months. Though nothing has finalized as yet, we are hopeful Perera will join our squad”

Perera enjoyed a sensational Nidahas Trophy 2018

Kusal Perera’s numbers in the Nidahas Trophy 2018 have tempted Sunrisers Hyderabad to sign Perera after he top-scored Nidahas Trophy with 204 runs at a strike rate of 158.13 which had included 21 fours and 7 sixes. Perera is a top order batsman who is capable of hitting big sixes which Team India found in one of the matches of Nidahas Trophy where Perera won the game for Sri Lanka with a breath-taking inning of 74 of just 54 balls.

In the latest David Warner news, the Australian opener has vowed to take some time away from the game to be with his family but has promised to make a comeback and he even hinted at revealing further details in a rather cryptic twitter post. David Warner IPL 2018 contract was worth $2.5m which he has had to surrender and he has been banned from playing any form of cricket in Australia for a period of next 12 months.
