  • Steve Smith and David Warner have been banned from IPL 2018
  • Both RR 2018 and SRH 2018 squad will be given the permission to replace their banned captains
  • For the first time in IPL’s history, we will see all the captains as Indians

The worst possible outcome for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (R)  has now come true after the governing bodies of Cricket Australia and Indian Premier League (IPL) have confirmed that David Warner and Steve Smith will not take part in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2018) this season. Both Warner and Smith were handed 12-months ban by Cricket Australia following which IPL Chief Rajiv Shukla in accordance with Acting President CK Khanna, and Acting Secretary Amitabh Choudhary have banned Steve Smith and David Warner from IPL 2018 with immediate effect.

In a hard-hitting press released, BCCI issued a statement which read: “The franchises will get replacements for the players as they (David Warner and Steve Smith) will not be allowed to play this year.

“The BCCI hopes that the cricketers participating in the IPL hold the highest regard for the Spirit of Cricket and Code of Conduct for Players and Match Officials,”

The verdict brings an end to any hopes of seeing the very best of Steve Smith IPL 2018 and David Warner IPL 2018 in action this season. Following their dismissals, RR 2018 and SRH 2018 also need to re-think their cricket strategy given both of them were due to lead their respective franchisee in the IPL 2018.

Steve Smith and David Warner banned from IPL 2018

The decision by Cricket Australia sees Steve Smith and David Warner both get a 12-month ban after Cricket Australia have sensationally revealed the exact details of the ball-tampering saga in the 3rd test match vs Newlands Capetown. Cricket Australia has confirmed that it was David Warner who instructed and taught Cameron Bancroft how to rough-up the ball using a sandpaper. Meanwhile, Steve Smith had been charged with keeping hold of the information of ball-tampering and then later misleading the media and the fans with his “mindless” press conference at the end of Day 3 at Capetown.

RR 2018 and SRH 2018 need to find replacements

According to IPL Chief Rajiv Shukla, both Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad will be given a fair chance of replacing Steve Smith IPL 2018 and David Warner IPL 2018 from their squad for the upcoming season of Indian Premier League (IPL). Both RR 2018 and SRH 2018 must be eying a move for Luke Ronchi who starred in the recently concluded season of Pakistan Super League (PSL 2018) and ended the tournament as the leading run-scorer.

Ronchi’s strike rate was well over 180 in the competition, something both SRH and RR will be looking capitalize on and gain an advantage over the other. Other names to replace David Warner IPL 2018 and Steve Smith IPL 2018 for the upcoming season of IPL are Joe Root, Alex Hales, Hashim Amla, Martin Guptill, and Eoin Morgan. RR 2018 and SRH 2018 squads will need to act swiftly as IPL 2018 kicks off in less than 10 days now and the team needs to find positivity and new direction before the start of new season.
