Buttler, who has played for Mumbai Indians in the past was picked up at the auction for INR 4.4 crore and will be competing with Sanju Samson for a place in the starting XI in IPL 2018.

Talking about his role in the team, Buttler said, “My exact role will be decided by the team management, but in recent times I have been opening the batting and have quite enjoyed it. I am also used to batting in the middle order and have been playing the role of a finisher. I am quite comfortable with it. So, I am available for whatever role I am given.”
Buttler’s role in the team will most likely come down to the decision made by Rajasthan Royals former captain Shane Warne. The legendary Australian leg-spinner has been selected by the team-management as a mentor for IPL 2018. Speaking about Shane Warne, Buttler said, “He was the most famous cricketer back then and later I enjoyed listening to his commentary. He has an amazing cricketing brain.”
Having played 2 previous seasons with the Mumbai Indians, Jos Buttler is very much aware of the conditions he will have to face during the course of 51 days. However, Buttler has never played at the famous Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, something he will need to get used as soon as possible. Rajasthan Royals start their IPL 2018 campaign away against Sunrisers Hyderabad on 9th April.
