Rajasthan Royals star D’Arcy Short still can’t believe his IPL 2018 price tag

  • Australian opener D’Arcy Short emerged as the highest run-getter in Big Bash League this season
  • D’Arcy Short’s IPL 2018 will be with Rajasthan Royals team 2018 who snapped him up for INR 4 Crore at the IPL auction
  • Short has admitted that he still coming to terms with the amount of money he will make in his maiden IPL stint

The Hobart Hurricanes enjoyed a spectacular Big Bash League (BBL07) season this year where they made their way to the final and won many hearts along the way. One man who was instrumental in their run to the top was left-handed opener D’Arcy Short who went from being a relatively unknown commodity at the start of the season to a household name by the end. Short accumulated 572 runs (most in the league) at a rather astonishing average of 57.20 to be named as Player of the Tournament. What his breakout season also did was getting the southpaw an IPL contract as he was signed up to be a part of Rajasthan Royals Team 2018 for a whopping INR 4 Crore. The Rajasthan Royals 2018 management went all out at the auction in January to give shape to project ‘RR 2018’ and the D’Arcy Short IPL 2018 story will certainly be an interesting sub-plot to follow in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.

Short’s superb run in BBL07 also catapulted him into national reckoning for the Twenty20 tri-series against England and New Zealand, where he was slotted in as skipper David Warner’s opening partner. The 27-year-old all-rounder was then chosen to be a part of the Rajasthan Royals Team 2018 where he will play alongside several international stalwarts like Steve Smith, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler and Ajinkya Rahane.

With the upcoming IPL season fast approaching, D’Arcy Short is now busy preparing himself for his maiden stint in the world’s premier domestic T20 league and is confident of integrating his personal ‘D’Arcy Short IPL 2018‘ mission with the Royals’ ambitious ‘Rajasthan Royals 2018‘ project.

“I backed my ability and I knew if I stuck to what I knew, I’d score runs and it paid off. Hopefully I can take that confidence into the IPL as well and do the same thing with RR 2018,” he said.

Short also revealed that he was shocked and surprised in equal measure when he came to know of the price he had fetched at the IPL auction in January.
