18-year-old Kamlesh Nagarkoti has had a dream start to 2018, after winning the Under-19 World Cup in January, the Barmer born was picked up by KKR for INR 3.2 crore for IPL 2018 in the mega-auction held later in the month. Nagarkoti was amongst the three players that KKR picked up from the Under-19 squad. Shivam Mavi and Shubman Gill were also picked up at the auction to join KKR team 2018 for a hefty sum of money. Kamlesh Nagarkoti’s IPL 2018 will see him up against some of the worlds best batsman including the likes of Virat Kohli, David Warner and Rohit Sharma.
Nagarkoti to focus on his natural game rather than the packed Eden Gardens in IPL 2018
Kamlesh Nagarkoti picked up 9 wickets in just 6 matches of the Under-19 World Cup and will be bowling under the guidance of Mitchel Starc and Mitchell Johnson. At an event recently, Nagarkoti was asked by reputed cricket historian Boria Majumdar about his anxieties prior to his first match at a packed Eden Gardens. The home of Kolkata Knight Riders is expected to be packed for all their home matches with over 70,000 people in the stadium.
Answering Majumdar’s question, Nagarkoti said, “I have not thought about the crowd so much, I have asked a lot of people how to handle the crowd and they have just told me to not think about the crowd, rather focus on my natural game and there won’t be any problems.”

Kamlesh Nagarkoti IPL 2018 – Won’t focus on the batsman but on bowling a good ball
Boria Majumdar took the opportunity to ask the youngster regarding his plans for someone like Virat Kohli, who the KKR will be facing off against in their opening league match on 8th April. Nagarkoti was quick to distance himself from any sort of pressure when bowling to world’s best batsman. He said, “I won’t be focussing too much on the batsman who is in front of me, rather I will put all of my focus into my own strengths.”
After a hugely successful period under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir, KKR team 2018 will be led by wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik. Spin will again be KKR 2018 biggest weapon in Eden Gardens as the team looks to secure their 3rd title in just the 11th season.
