Focussing on the batsman can put extra pressure on the bowler says Shivam Mavi

In the middle of the conversation with the KKR team 2018 players, Boria Majumdar asked both Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti, how they will deal with players like Virat Kohli, who the pair are scheduled to face in the very first match of the season. Shivam Mavi was quick to respond, he said, “I will not think about the batsman, I will just be thinking about the practice and plans that we have made before the match. If I focus too much on the batsman, the extra pressure will come on my head and I rather focus on my strengths.”

KKR IPL 11 campaign will start on 9th April with a home match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. This year the KKR 2018 squad will be led by the first-time captain Dinesh Karthik, who recently played a blinder of a knock to seal an almost impossible win against Bangladesh in Nidahas Trophy Final.

Not going to change my bowling style for IPL 2018 – Shivam Mavi

Boria Majumdar also asked Mavi about his plans for the upcoming season and whether he is going to change anything from the Under-19 to the IPL level. In reply the young fast-bowler said, “Everything will remain the same, whatever I have been doing it till now I will continue doing do. The only thing that will change is the thinking on the basis of the different types of shots that are played in T20 cricket.

With Mitchel Starc and Mitchell Johnson in the KKR 2018 squad, Mavi will get ample opportunity to better his game and learn from the very best in the craft. The whole of India will be watching how these young boys cope with the pressure on the biggest of stages and a good season for either of the 3 youngsters could help them greatly in opening the door to the senior national side.
